Happy World Book Night

Happy World Book Night you guys. Sadly I missed the boat to sign up this year so I am going to give away one of the books from my own mountains. But firstly, for anyone who doesn't know about World Book Night you can read about it HERE and get involved if you wish. Otherwise this is what it is about, lifted from the website, more info available on the website.

World Book Night is a national celebration of reading and books which takes place on 23 April every year. Books are given out across the UK with a focus on reaching those who don’t regularly read, and are gifted through organisations including prisons, libraries, colleges, hospitals, care homes and homeless shelters, as well as by passionate individuals who give out their own books within their communities.

World Book Night is run by The Reading Agency, a national charity that inspires people to become confident and enthusiastic readers.

I am offering up a brand new copy of the first in a series, Silent Scream by author Angela Marsons. I have bought this book three times, yes three, the paperback after rave reviews in The Crime Book Club on Facebook, the ebook because it was only 99p and then another paperback copy because it was also on offer. Angela Marsons is in the Crime Book Club also and it is always nice to support our club authors. I hopefully will get to start the series soon but have heard so much positive about it I have bought four of the books already!

I will leave the comp open for two days only, just so folk in different time zones get the opportunity to enter. As always, use Rafflecopter to enter. Have a great day no matter what you are up to but I hope you enjoy something book related and maybe bump into a World Book Night giver or give away one of your own! Share the love. The competition is open worldwide.

WBN competition - Tales Of The City by Armistead Maupin x2 copies

I am a bit late so apologies, this was meant to run the day after World Book Night (WBN) however with the exam and holiday, WIFI wasn't great there, it got a bit behind.

This is the first book in a series, I liked it so much that when I read it the first time I went off and bought up the others, as well as watching the show. I reread it on holiday and, with my tons of others, you can find my review here http://www.alwaysreading.net/2014/05/review-tales-of-city-by-armistead-maupin.html

There are two copies to give away and I haven't restricted it to the UK so anyone can enter. I have set it to run to the end of the month and the same rules apply as with the pre-loved giveaway. I will also get that listed asap so bear with me and good luck people. a Rafflecopter giveaway

World Book Night 2014

Well the time is almost here, it is after midnight so technically it is World Book Night, 2014!

I have been a giver for three years in a row. It is such a worthwhile thing to do, I give out at hospital, in the town center (which has been met with sweetness, distrust or just avoidance), I met a giver last year too, I was delighted.

This year I am giving out Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin. I read this book years ago and went on to buy the others in the series, it has been a good few years and don't remember much about it but I did enjoy it and as a very stressful end of term is coming up I will reacquaint soon!

A 3000 word report is due on Thursday and a big exam so tomorrow is a busy busy day. I will of course be taking time out to give out my fabulous World Book Night Books and I will share any stories.

Here was Trixie "my wee helper" giving her usual lot of helpfulness, she is pretty cute though eh? She spent almost an hour in that box!
I will also be listed one or two copies of this book as a giveaway, I will see how good I get on tomorrow so watch this space. For any other givers, I hope you have a great day and lots of stories to share.

My book is Let The Right One in by John Ajvide Lindqvist

Synopsis
It is autumn 1981 when the inconceivable comes to Blackeberg, a suburb in Sweden. The body of a teenage boy is found, emptied of blood, the murder rumored to be part of a ritual killing. Twelve-year-old Oskar is personally hoping that revenge has come at long last---revenge for the bullying he endures at school, day after day.

But the murder is not the most important thing on his mind. A new girl has moved in next door---a girl who has never seen a Rubik’s Cube before, but who can solve it at once. There is something wrong with her, though, something odd. And she only comes out at night. . . .

Sweeping top honors at film festivals all over the globe, director Tomas Alfredsson’s film of Let the Right One In has received the same kind of spectacular raves that have been lavished on the book

World Book Night 2012 - Are you participating?

Well this is my first year. I have picked up my books and tonight I am labeling them all for Monday. I had said I will be giving them away to randoms, at work and maybe one or two via my website. My books are John Ajvide Lindqvist's Let The Right One In.

I am really looking forward to this and having a chance to introduce people to reading and a new author/genre. I haven't read the book yet myself (I will) but have seen the movie and with all the vampire hype I am sure this will entice one or more people to pick up a book when normally it would be tv all the way.

Technically as it isn't until Monday I still have all my books but 2 are spoken for and one of which is to someone who never reads but is going to give it a go (the books are fairly thick so I am delighted.)

Are you taking part? If so what are you doing and what is your book?

Happy book night when it comes and I hope you all have a blast
