Rich Hall event

We went to Aberdeen to see Rich Hall with my o/h and his brother.

That is a list of his previous and upcoming gigs.

It was queued around the corner and hosted in the wee town hall.

I had never heard of Rich Hall but we seen him when we were in Las Vegas at The Laughter Factory, he is hillarious, a comedian and does country music songs/humour and makes up songs with information he gets from people in the crowd.

An unexpected surprise was he also had a book on sale, he wrote it during lockdown, "Nailing It" and we also got a CD free with that.

His co star joined him for a few numbers & he obviously did his solos.

His wife was at the start with the table selling the books and so friendly, making sure folk knew to come back after and get it signed and chat to him.

It was a great night, I would absolutely got see him again and wish I had known about the tour earlier.

If you loved Alan's first memoir - Look Who It Is! - then this follow-up, Alanatomy, will take you further into the hilarious and bizarre world of the country's favourite chatty man. Alanatomy is the chance for you to get beneath my skin and see the real me because, and to continue the anatomical theme if I may, this showbiz existence can sometimes feel like an autopsy - picked at, probed and scrutinized with every inch of your body held up for analysis, but unlike an actual autopsy, you are very much alive.

My review

This is Alan's second book, the first covered his childhood and breaking into showbiz. This book picks up where the other leaves off, Alan is headed into his 40s, he has had a step into celebrity and this catalogs his career from there onwards. As well as following his career he discloses all that comes with celebrity, the good, the bad, the ugly. Things going on in his own life, behind the scenes and some celebrity gossip.

If you love celeb gossip you will love this one. There is also a lot of raw truth in this, lifts a bit of the shine off the old celebrity lifestyle. It is actually quite shocking some of what he went through, just shows that "the show must go on" is very true and you never quite know what people are going through. I think folk often forget how that people in the public eye are just that, people having to put a smile on and portraying life is all glam and fab but dealing with personal challenges.

I never seen any of his shows but I think after reading the books I need to check them out, I did chuckle at a few parts of the book. I said it with the last one I read it hearing his voice so things that maybe wouldn't be funny if coming from his wee voice. If he writes another I would buy it, he doesn't seem to be on Twitter (his account is he isn't active) and I wonder if a lot of it is due to the things mentioned in the book. 3/5 for me this time, if you enjoyed his first book and like a wee nosey into celeb life(s) you will enjoy this.

The brilliantly funny and inimitable Alan Carr tells his life story in his own words, from growing up in a football-mad family in Northampton to his rise to become one of Britain's best-loved comedians.

My Review

I love Alan Carr, put him on the tele and you are bound to be in stitches, his voice, facial expressions, I could listen to him all day. So when I saw this book years ago I bought it and it has stayed on my TBRM for years. I finally got round to it. I read it all in his voice which just adds to the humour.

He takes us on his lifes journey, from being a kid, growing up, problems with his appearance, figuring out who he was. His father is big in football and many people expected a young Alan would follow in his footsteps. He goes through his time growing up, education onto his career and how he got into comedy.

I don't do a lot of non fiction, autobiographies but I really did enjoy this one. I also saw he has another book, Alanatomy out and bought it a few weeks back, it will not sit on the shelves for years! If you like learning more about celebs, humour and all things Alan Carr this is for you, 4/5 for me this time. I am looking forward to reading his next book and may re watch his dvds, I just love listening to him, guy is hilar!
